A catalogue of active galactic nuclei from the first 1.5 Gyr of the Universe       ADS      VizieR

This catalog is constantly updated using the latest literature. The catalog contains AGN with redshifts greater than z=4.0.

The current verision contains the following properties: J2000 coordinates (in sexadecimal and decimal formats), identier (name), redshift, BH mass, information on the radio detection in FIRST, NVSS, RACS, and VLASS, flux densities from individual VLBI observations, SDSS optical magnitudes (and their errors). The catalogue also lists the reference papers of the discovery, redshift, BH mass, and VLBI observations in the bibliographical style of the SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System.

The latest update was adapted on 8 September 2026.

peak intesities for FIRST, RACS, and VLASS added.

flux density and peak intensity uncertainties included. Uncertainty for (integrated) FIRST flux densities were calculated as rms*sqrt(theta_maj*theta_min/theta_beam^2).

some columns were renamed (e.g. VLASS --> Sv1; FIRST --> Sf; RA_1--> RA). See the new column definitions in readme_2026.csv

J145005.39-014438.9, J142903.08-010443.3 (2026ArXiv260818212Y), and J010909.0-542416.2 (2026arXiv260825044M) removed to their `true' redshifts being lower than z=4. New sources added. Contains 4351 sources.

[2022.09.13.] SDSS J161555.75+395920.1 was removed, as its newly determined redshift value (2022arXiv220903987W) is below z=4.

[2022.02.04.] Quasars from SDSSS DR16 and DR16Q were added (see column `Notes'). References were corrected, and 20+ new quasars were added (from 2022MNRAS.511..572O).

[2021.08.10.] Flux density values from VLBI measurements and references were corrected and updated.

[2021.08.04.] Flux densities from the VLASS survey are now included in the catalogue alongside with their cutout-image links. Some columns (class, Xname, Rname) were removed.

[2021.03.03] SDSS J001357.16-083334.7, SDSS J093953.54+290602.6, SDSS J112430.11+503835.3, PSS J1159+1337, SDSS J164829.70+350158.9, and SDSS J234007.83+235801.8 were removed from the catalogue due to their `true' redshifts being lower than z=4.
